Tax status

The Theta Tau Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization under the Internal Revenue Code. Our EIN is 43-1774314. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. We are not able to give tax advice, so please consult your tax advisor about your specific situation.

Goods and services

Unless we tell you otherwise in writing, no goods or services are provided in exchange for a contribution to the Foundation. When a gift is connected to an event, a purchase, or an item of value, your receipt will describe what you received and provide a good-faith estimate of its fair market value; only the amount above that value is deductible.

Recognition is not a benefit. Listing a donor’s name on a giving wall, in the Foundation’s reports, or in a giving society roster is recognition of generosity, not something received in exchange, and it does not affect deductibility.

Refunds

All donations to the Theta Tau Educational Foundation are final and non-refundable. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, contributions are received as charitable gifts and are not subject to refund or exchange.

We understand that mistakes happen. If you believe a gift was made in error, including a duplicate transaction, an incorrect amount, or an unauthorized charge, contact us at board@thetataufoundation.org within 30 days, and we will review the request. Refunds are granted at the Foundation’s discretion and are not guaranteed.

Recurring gifts

You may change or cancel a recurring gift at any time by contacting us at board@thetataufoundation.org or by using the link in your gift confirmation email. Please allow up to 30 days for changes to take effect. Gifts already processed are subject to the refund policy above.

Designated gifts

We honor donor designations. If a designated fund is closed, fully funded, or otherwise unable to be used as intended, the Foundation’s board will redirect the gift to a purpose as close as reasonably possible to the donor’s original intent, and we will contact the donor when we can.

Donor privacy

We do not sell, rent, or trade donor information. We use your information to process your gift, send your receipt, and keep you informed about the Foundation’s work. You can ask to be removed from our communications at any time by contacting us at board@thetataueducationalfoundation.org.

Receipts and records

You’ll receive a written acknowledgment for every gift. If you need a copy of a past receipt, contact us at board@thetataufoundation.org, and we will provide what our records contain.
